Main Accused in Ayodhya Woman’s Robbery and Murder Killed in Police Encounter in Malihabad

Lucknow — The main accused in the brutal robbery and murder of a woman from Ayodhya has been killed in a police encounter in Malihabad, bringing a critical breakthrough in the case that sparked public outrage.

According to police sources, the accused, identified as Ajay — an auto driver — was involved in the heinous crime where a woman, who had boarded his auto from Alambagh Bus Stand, was robbed and later murdered. The woman had resisted an attempt of robbery and sexual assault, following which she was strangled to death.

Ajay had been on the run since the incident. Acting on a tip-off, police located him near Malihabad. During an attempted arrest, Ajay opened fire on the police team, leading to a retaliatory encounter in which he sustained bullet injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead by doctors.

The police have recovered a firearm and other evidence from the encounter site. Senior officials confirmed Ajay’s involvement and stated that justice has been served. Further investigations are underway to determine if any accomplices were involved in the crime.

The incident has sent shockwaves across Ayodhya and Lucknow, with local authorities assuring swift action in similar cases and stricter surveillance at public transport hubs.
