Mahila Kisan Sangathan Celebrates International Women’s Day with Theme ‘Give to Gain’

Gonda/Shravasti: The Mahila Kisan Sangathan celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm under the theme “Give to Gain”, bringing together thousands of rural women to promote awareness about empowerment, equality and farmers’ rights.

The programme was organised under a project run by Pani Sansthan as part of its Puraskar Project, which is currently being implemented in nearly 500 gram panchayats across several blocks of Gonda district—including Chhapia, Mankapur, Jhanjhari, Pahadi Kripal (Padri Kripal), Mujehna, Itiyathok and Rupaidih—as well as the Shravasti district block of Ikauna.

The initiative aims to reduce agricultural input costs and water consumption, increase farmers’ income and spread awareness about various government schemes among rural communities.

On March 8, special programmes were organised in both districts where more than 12,000 women farmers participated enthusiastically. The gatherings featured discussions on women’s empowerment, gender equality and the rights of women farmers. Participants also presented awareness songs highlighting the role of women in strengthening rural society and agriculture.

The celebrations concluded with a community “khichdi bhoj”, where participants shared a meal together. The women collectively pledged to remain aware of their rights and continue working towards bringing positive social change in their villages and communities.
