Lucknow: The 104-year-old Maharashtra Samaj, Lucknow ushered in the festive spirit with its maiden “Diwali Pahaat”—a traditional Maharashtrian morning celebration—held at Maharashtra Samaj Bhawan, Qatra Maqbool Ganj, Latouche Road. The event, which began at 7 a.m., brought together the Marathi-speaking community of Lucknow for a soulful cultural experience.
Conceptualized by Sanjay Deshmankar and Samaj President Vivek Phadke, the event featured a spellbinding concert by All India Radio artist Prajyot Dewaskar, accompanied by his daughter Aarna, who captivated the audience with devotional Marathi renditions.

Traditional dress and Faral (snack) competitions, vibrant Rangoli décor, and cultural talks celebrating the six days of Diwali added charm to the occasion. Generously supported by Sanjay Agarwal and anchored by Ravindra Joshi, the event concluded with community bonding, marking a joyous beginning to what promises to become an annual tradition in Lucknow.
