Prayagraj: Preparations for the Mahakumbh 2025 in the Mela region are intensifying as the event draws closer. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently visited the area and instructed authorities to expedite the land allotment process, with a target to complete it by December 31. In response, authorities have swiftly allocated land to over 4,000 groups, with between 8,000 and 10,000 organizations expected to participate in the grand event.
One of the key aspects of the preparations is the construction of Akharas, which is progressing steadily. While the Mela Authority has completed land allocations for most Akharas and other groups, some Akharas have already set up their camps. The remaining land allocations, including those for new applicants, will be finalized by the end of the year. The allocation for Akharas, their subgroups, Mahamandaleshwar, Khalsa, Dandiwada, Acharyawada, and Khakachowk has been completed, and the allocation process for Prayagwal groups and new organizations is expected to conclude by December 31.
As of now, 4,268 groups have received land, including 460 for Mahamandaleshwar, 750 for Khalsa, 203 for Dandiwada, 300 for Acharyawada, 300 for Khakachowk, 19 for Akharas and their subgroups, and 1,766 for other organizations. The allocation process for Prayagwal tribes, which started on December 12, is ongoing and will continue until December 31.
With tent construction and decorations underway, the area allocated to Akharas and other groups is bustling with activity. Representatives from various groups, including Akharas, Mahamandaleshwar, Khalsa, Dandiwada, Acharyawada, and Khakachowk, are busy setting up tents and decorations according to their respective customs and traditions in the Jhunsi region. To assist guests in locating their designated spots, the administration has placed checkered plates across the area and is rapidly installing signs. Additionally, preparations for lighting and other essential facilities are being executed to meet deadlines.
The Agni Akhara has entered the cantonment, and both the Juna Akhara and Avahan Akhara have already made their way to the site. With preparations progressing at a fast pace, the entire area is expected to be ready and beautifully decorated by January 1st, setting the stage for the grand Mahakumbh 2025.
