Lucknow: On February 2, 2025, the Department of Yoga, Faculty of Yoga and Alternative Medicine, Lucknow University, organized the Mahakumbh 2025 event at the Yoga Sabha Hall to celebrate Vasant Panchami. The event was inaugurated with Kalash Pujan and Maa Saraswati Pujan, setting the tone for a spiritually enriching gathering.
Dr. Amarjeet Yadav, the Coordinator of the Faculty, explained that the Mahakumbh is the world’s largest spiritual gathering. The event holds immense religious, cultural, and social significance, attracting millions of devotees. He emphasized that the importance of Mahakumbh extends beyond India, as it symbolizes faith, belief, and unity on a global scale. According to Dr. Yadav, taking a sacred dip in the waters of the Sangam not only cleanses the body but also the mind, boosting the body’s immune system and enhancing spiritual awareness.
Professor Ashok Kumar Sonkar, the Head of the Faculty, spoke about how the Kumbh inspires individuals to walk the spiritual path, promoting both spiritual and moral development, and awakening the body’s latent energies.
Yoga Acharya Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi further added that Mahakumbh is the epitome of Indian spirituality. Participating in the Kumbh helps in controlling the mind’s restlessness and aids in mental growth.
The event saw performances by Yoga Department students, with Nikita Trigunayat presenting a powerful Shiv Stuti and a Mahakumbh dance, energizing the atmosphere. Ragini, another student, presented a dance called “Namami,” while Ranjan, Ankita, Manisha, and Divya performed a dance-drama themed on Adiyogi. Sandeep Trivedi recited a solo poetry performance.
All participants were honored with certificates for their contributions. The event was attended by faculty members and students from the Yoga Department, making it a day to remember in the university’s cultural and spiritual calendar.
