Lucknow: Lulu Mall, one of Lucknow’s premier shopping destinations, has added another feather to its cap by being awarded the prestigious Gold Rating under the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Green Building Certification.
The formal announcement was made in the presence of Mall Manager Naveen Sukhija and Chief Engineer Sopan Dev Bharti, highlighting the mall’s commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly operations.
This certification was granted under the IGBC Green Existing Buildings – Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Rating System, which encourages environmentally responsible practices in commercial buildings. The focus areas of this system include waste management, water conservation, energy efficiency, reduction in fossil fuel usage, and preservation of natural resources.
Following a detailed evaluation in accordance with the IGBC framework, Lulu Mall Lucknow was found to be in compliance with the gold standard benchmarks, recognizing its sustainable operational strategies and environmental commitment.
An IGBC representative stated, “We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Lulu Mall, Lucknow, on this notable achievement. The gold rating is a testament to the mall’s continued efforts to foster a green and sustainable environment.”
As a part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), IGBC has been leading India’s green building movement since 2001. With over 13.56 billion square feet of registered green building footprint, India now stands as the second-largest country in the world in this domain—thanks to the contributions of eco-conscious establishments like Lulu Mall.
