Lucknow: On the occasion of the birth centenary of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a series of programs and initiatives will be held across Lucknow as part of the “Good Governance Week.” A preparatory meeting for the events was held at Halwasiya Court, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, senior BJP leader Neeraj Singh, Lucknow Metropolitan President Anand Dwivedi, MLC Mukesh Sharma, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, MLA Neeraj Bora, MLA O.P. Srivastava, and Ram Chandra Pradhan.
Celebrations and Initiatives
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak announced that grand celebrations will take place on December 24 and 25 to honor Atal Ji’s legacy. The “Atal Swasthya Mela” (Health Fair) will focus on identifying individuals in need of medical attention at the ward and mandal levels, ensuring they receive proper healthcare benefits. On December 24, a cultural highlight will be the “Atal Geet Ganga” program featuring an exclusive poetry recital by renowned poet Kumar Vishwas.
On December 25, a “Samrasta Bhoj” (Harmony Feast) will precede the health fair, where free health services, medicines, and Ayushman Bharat cards will be distributed. Artificial limbs, tricycles, and other medical equipment will also be provided.
A Tribute to Atal Ji
Senior BJP leader Neeraj Singh emphasized the emotional and cultural significance of these programs. He remarked that Lucknow, being Atal Ji’s karmabhoomi (workplace), should celebrate with a festive spirit. Programs like the Atal Swasthya Mela, which began five years ago, have grown substantially, offering free healthcare services and support to underprivileged communities.
Cultural and Health Programs
Lucknow Metropolitan President Anand Dwivedi detailed the series of events, which include:
- Atal Kumbh: A grand program at K.D. Singh Babu Stadium with the participation of over 25,000 school students. Cultural and musical performances will add vibrancy to the event.
- Unveiling of Atal Ji’s Statue: Scheduled for December 25 at Kudia Ghat, the statue will be unveiled by Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
- Poetry Recital: Kumar Vishwas will present an exclusive recital at the Atal Convention Center.
Expanded Healthcare Services
MLC Mukesh Sharma highlighted the enhanced scale of this year’s health fair, with over 80 private hospitals participating. The event will include free distribution of medicines, specialized consultations for women, and financial aid for further treatments.
Development Projects
On December 24, key development initiatives will be inaugurated from the health fair venue. Specific projects aimed at enhancing Lucknow’s infrastructure and services will be announced, adding to the city’s growth and prosperity.
Student Participation and Awards
MLA Neeraj Bora mentioned that the Atal Kumbh program at K.D. Singh Babu Stadium will feature student bands, cultural programs, and district-level competitions. Prizes will be awarded to outstanding participants.
Municipal Contributions
Mayor Sushma Kharkwal shared that the Lucknow Municipal Corporation is preparing for the grand unveiling of Atal Ji’s statue at Kudia Ghat. This will serve as a fitting tribute to the visionary leader who left an indelible mark on Lucknow and the nation.
