Lucknow to get top of the line International Convention Centre

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given in-principle consent for the construction of an International Exhibition cum Convention Centre equipped with world-class facilities in the state capital. In a meeting with senior officials of the government level, the Chief Minister discussed the format, construction process, cost etc. of the proposed International Convention cum Exhibition Centre and said that a well-equipped, world-class high-tech convention-cum-exhibition centre is required for organising programmes of national-international importance in the capital Lucknow.

The convention centre should be constructed under the joint aegis of Housing Development and LDA. The state government will also provide financial support in this. The Chief Minister has fixed a period of two years for the construction work.

He said that the convention centre should be made multi-purpose. The convention centre should be such where big cultural, political, state, religious functions, musical concerts can be organised with full grandeur and dignity. The exhibition centre should be capable of hosting all types of fairs/exhibitions, there should also be an open theatre here, land should be reserved for the hotel industry nearby.

The Chief Minister said that the architecture of the building should reflect Indian culture, as well as present an example of water and energy conservation. He said that the convention center should also continuously display Uttar Pradesh’s ODOP products, our special food, folk art, folk music. The Chief Minister also directed to make arrangements for better parking of small, big and heavy vehicles, fire safety, toilets and food court etc. in the convention center.

Discussing the recently concluded UP International Trade Show, the Chief Minister said that lakhs of people arrive in such events. Crowd management is needed on such occasions, this should be kept in mind while deciding the outline of the exhibition hall in the convention center.

Giving information on the proposed form of the convention center, officials said that 32 acres of land is available in Vrindavan Yojana where the Defense Expo was organized in the year 2020, on which it can be constructed. There is good connectivity from all sides here. This convention center with a capacity of about 10 thousand people will have separate auditoriums. There is also a provision of meeting rooms, VIP lounges. The special ‘Panch Vatika’ depicting the five elements will be the center of attraction in the huge complex
