Lucknow STF Arrests Accused Father Who Escaped Police Custody After Killing Son in Drunken Rage

Lucknow – In a major breakthrough, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) arrested 59-year-old Shivkumar alias Bablu, who had been on the run for months after escaping from police custody during treatment. He was wanted for the brutal murder of his own son.

STF officials confirmed that Shivkumar was nabbed late Tuesday night near the Clark Avadh Hotel in the Wazirganj police station area. Acting on a tip-off, a special team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Singh, along with Sub-Inspectors Tej Bahadur Singh, Harish Kumar Singh Chauhan, Head Constable Sartaj Ahmad, Suraj Singh, and Constable Ram Singh, surrounded the area around 8:30 p.m. and successfully arrested the fugitive.

Gruesome Murder of Son
A resident of Rahimnagar in Lucknow’s Mahanagar area, Shivkumar admitted during questioning that he was addicted to alcohol and frequently quarreled with his son. On March 22, 2025, during one such argument, he attacked his son with a hammer in a drunken rage, killing him instantly. A case of murder was registered at Mahanagar police station, and Shivkumar was sent to jail.

Escape From Police Custody
On May 19, 2025, Shivkumar was admitted to Balrampur Hospital for treatment. However, on May 24, he managed to evade police guards and escaped. Since then, he had been hiding at different locations to avoid arrest. Despite several search operations by STF and local police, he remained absconding until his capture this week.

With his arrest, police officials said that a months-long manhunt has finally come to an end. Further legal action is being taken against the accused.
