Lucknow — A shocking incident has surfaced from Lucknow’s Ashiyana area, where a neighbor allegedly rammed his car into children playing outside their home. The attack left 5-and-a-half-year-old Shouvik Pandey critically injured with multiple broken ribs, forcing doctors to keep him in the ICU for several days. Even more disturbing, police registered an FIR only eight days after the incident.
CCTV Reveals the Truth
The incident occurred on August 10. According to Haridwar Pandey, a retired health department officer, his grandson Shouvik was standing outside their house with his friend Kushal Soumil when neighbor Shivansh Verma deliberately accelerated his car toward them.
The impact was so violent that Shouvik was flung through his own house gate, while Kushal was thrown at a distance. Initially, the family believed it was an accident, but CCTV footage revealed it was an intentional act.

Accused Family’s Irresponsible Behavior
The victim’s family alleged that neither Shivansh nor his family members — including C.L. Verma — visited the hospital or offered any help. Instead, they reportedly summoned the Pandey family to their home and attempted to intimidate them.
“They even claimed it was Shouvik’s fault for playing on the street,” said the grieving family, which further deepened their suspicion that the act was deliberate.
Police Accused of Inaction
Grandfather Haridwar Pandey alleged that despite filing a complaint immediately after the incident, police kept delaying action.

“They forced me to sign papers under pressure, altered my complaint, and even changed the date,” he claimed. The family also accused the police of giving the accused time to escape.
It was only late Sunday night, eight days after the attack, that an FIR was officially registered.
Authorities Respond
Ashiyana Police Inspector insisted that an FIR had been filed as soon as the family approached them. Meanwhile, DCP Ashish Srivastava has taken cognizance of the matter, met with the victim’s family, and assured strict action.
The case has sparked serious questions about police accountability and citizen safety, reigniting concerns over law enforcement practices in Uttar Pradesh.
