Lucknow: The Lucknow Police organised a special training workshop on women’s safety and gender sensitivity as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen victim-centric policing and improve support mechanisms for women and children.
The one-day workshop was conducted on March 12, 2026, at the seminar hall of the Reserve Police Lines in Lucknow by the Specialized Training branch of the police commissionerate. The programme was held under the leadership of Police Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar and guided by Joint Police Commissioner (Crime & Headquarters) Aparna Kumar and Joint Police Commissioner (Law & Order) Bablu Kumar.
The training was conducted under the leadership of DCP Women Crime and Security Mamta Rani Choudhary and DCP Headquarters Anil Kumar Yadav, with supervision from Assistant Commissioner of Police (Women Crime) Soumya Pandey.
Around 100 women police personnel, including those posted at Women Help Desks and Pink Booths across police stations in Lucknow, participated in the session. The workshop focused on strengthening gender sensitivity among police personnel and enhancing their ability to respond effectively to cases involving violence against women and children.
During the session, DCP Mamta Rani Choudhary emphasised the importance of “victim-oriented policing,” instructing officers to ensure compassionate and respectful behaviour with victims so they feel secure while seeking help.

Expert trainers Rizwana Parveen from EVAWCH and women’s rights activist Naish Hasan conducted detailed sessions on different forms of violence, gender sensitivity, and the legal rights of victims. Participants were also informed about referral services such as One Stop Centres and the District Legal Services Authority, which provide legal, medical and psychological support to victims.
The workshop also highlighted the role of community policing, encouraging officers to assist victims through women help desks by facilitating medical support, mediation and legal assistance when required. The initiative is aligned with the objectives of Mission Shakti, aimed at strengthening women’s safety and empowerment.
Officials said the training will help police personnel handle complaints with greater empathy and professionalism, thereby strengthening the support system for women and children in the city. The programme reflects Lucknow Police’s commitment to building a safer and more responsive environment where every woman can live with dignity and security.
