Lucknow Police Arrest Fraud Suspect for Forging Bank Loan Documents

Lucknow: The Hazratganj Police have successfully arrested a suspect involved in fraudulent banking activities, including the creation of forged documents to secure loans illegally. The operation highlights the police’s ongoing efforts to combat financial fraud in the city.

Case Background:

On August 18, 2022, the complainant, Akurr Singh, resident of Sahajpuram, Shri Ram Chandra Mission, IIM Road, Lucknow, filed a written complaint with Hazratganj Police. The complaint alleged that the accused had, without the account holder’s knowledge, fraudulently prepared forged and fabricated documents to obtain bank loans and siphon off funds.

A formal case was registered under FIR No. 298/2022 at Hazratganj Police Station under Sections 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860, against unidentified IDFC Bank officials. The investigation was conducted under the supervision of Sub-Inspector Madhukar Singh.

Investigation and Arrest:

Earlier arrests were made in this case, including suspects Fida Mirza, Vikas Kuril, and Vivek Mishra, who were placed in judicial custody.

The primary accused, Ashutosh Tiwari, had been evading police arrest by frequently changing his location. After thorough surveillance and intelligence operations, Tiwari, aged 33, son of Sunil Datt, resident of Dhadhwar village, Post Revli, Police Station Lar, Deoria district, and 463B Dairy Railway Colony, Gorakhpur, was apprehended from Deoria district on March 30, 2026. He has been presented before the competent court following due process.

During interrogation, Tiwari admitted that he and his associates prepared forged documents of other individuals to obtain loans from banks and subsequently divided the illicitly obtained funds among themselves.

Objective of the Crime:

To unlawfully secure money from banks by preparing forged and fraudulent documents in the names of other individuals.
