Lucknow — The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has successfully regained possession of approximately 170 acres of land located in villages Ujariyav and Jiamau (Tehsil and District Lucknow), which belongs to the Corporation. The land had earlier been leased to M/s Sahara India Commercial Corporation Ltd. through a lease deed and license agreement.
Over time, several complaints were received regarding violations of the terms and conditions of the agreement. Following these reports, the Municipal Corporation reviewed all documents and examined related cases pending before various Hon’ble Courts. Subsequently, a committee was constituted to look into the matter and recommend further legal and administrative action.
Based on the committee’s recommendations, Municipal Commissioner Shri Gaurav Kumar directed Zonal Officer (Zone-04) Sanjay Yadav, Property In-charge Rameshwar Prasad, and the Municipal Corporation Tehsildar to initiate proceedings.
Acting upon these directions, on September 27 and 28, 2025, a team from the Property Department of LMC, under the leadership of the Zonal Officer (Zone-04) and Tehsildar, visited the premises of Sahara India Commercial Corporation Ltd. and took possession of the land owned by the Municipal Corporation.
During the operation, notice boards were placed inside and outside the premises to formally mark the Corporation’s ownership. The land was secured without any resistance. Prior to sealing the premises, the families and staff residing within were requested to vacate the area on humanitarian grounds to avoid inconvenience.

Continuing the process, on October 6, 2025, the Property Department team, with assistance from Gomtinagar Police Station and PAC forces, sealed the residential quarters, guest house, and all six main gates of the Sahara India Commercial Corporation Ltd. premises.
The entire operation was completed peacefully, and no opposition or disturbance was reported. To ensure transparency, video documentation of the entire process was conducted. Employees residing in the premises were allowed to take their personal belongings and essential items before vacating.
After the evacuation, the LMC team took complete possession of the entire 170-acre property.
