Lucknow Municipal Corporation Launches Intensive Anti-Encroachment Drive Across Two Zones

Multiple illegal structures removed following directives of  Mayor and Municipal Commissioner

Lucknow: In a decisive move to curb illegal encroachments and ease traffic congestion, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation on Monday conducted a large-scale, multi-layered anti-encroachment operation across two major zones of the city. The action was carried out under the directives of  Mayor Sushma Kharkwal and Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, with the objective of clearing key roads, public spaces and footpaths to ensure smooth, safe and obstruction-free movement for residents.

Action in Zone-05

In Zone-05, the teams launched a coordinated drive stretching from Airport Naderganj Crossing to Patri Daroga Kheda, including parts of the Sarojini Nagar Industrial Area. The operation focused on removing temporary illegal structures such as street carts, kiosks, counters and makeshift shops.

During the campaign, the following encroachments were cleared:

  • 06 street carts (thelas)
  • 03 kiosks (gumtis)
  • 04 counters

Encroachers were issued a strict warning to refrain from re-establishing illegal structures in the future.
The campaign was led by Zonal Officer Vineet Kumar Singh, supported by Tax Superintendent Sabhajeet Singh, Revenue Inspector Piyush Tiwari, Enforcement Team (296), and local police personnel.

Action in Zone-07

In Zone-07, a special drive was conducted from Polytechnic Chauraha to Kamta Police Chowki up to BBD Crossing, under the supervision of Zonal Officer Rameshwar Prasad. The team dismantled temporary structures built over drains, pavements and along road edges.

Items seized or removed during the operation included:

  • 4 iron counters seized
  • 1 street cart seized
  • 2 gas cylinders seized
  • 10 stools seized
  • 5 counters removed from site
  • 4 street carts removed
  • 3 kiosks dismantled

The action was executed in the presence of Tax Superintendent Vinay Maurya and the Enforcement Team (296).

Municipal Commissioner Praises Teams

Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar commended the efforts of both teams, emphasizing that the campaign to free the city from illegal encroachments will continue with the same intensity.

He appealed to citizens to refrain from occupying public spaces illegally and to cooperate with the Municipal Corporation in maintaining an orderly and clean urban environment.

The latest crackdown highlights the Corporation’s commitment to restoring public spaces, improving mobility, and ensuring better civic management across Lucknow.
