Lucknow: 8th Metro Diwas will be celebrated in the presence of MD’s Medal Awards, Commuter Felicitations, and Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav as the Guest of Honour

Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) is all set to celebrate its 8th Metro Diwas on 5th September 2025, marking the successful completion of eight glorious years of metro operations in Lucknow.
Adding to the significance of the day, Lucknow Metro has also achieved a historic milestone of carrying 13 crore passengers, reflecting the growing trust and confidence of citizens in safe, fast, and environment-friendly mode of urban transport.

The milestone celebrations will commence at the Transport Nagar Depot with Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav, youngest receipient of Param Vir Chakra , gracing the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Highlights of the program include the Managing Director’s Gold, Siver and Bronze Medal Awards Ceremony, where UPMRC recognizes outstanding contributions of UPMRC employees.

The celebrations will then continue at Hazratganj Metro Station, where esteemed passengers of UPMRC and 3 top Gosmart card users will be felicitated with a special prize. The event will also feature cultural performances by school children, adding colour and vibrancy to the day.
As part of the celebrations, 15 exhibition panels will also be displayed at Hazratganj Metro Station showcasing UPMRC’s remarkable 8 year journey and its key achievements. Along with this a Bookfair, a Makeshift Radio station and a live Band performance will also be organized at Hazratganj metro station.
