New Delhi / Lucknow: Mayor of Lucknow, Sushma Kharkwal, took part in the second day of the three-day Municipalika-2026 International Exhibition & Conference on Safe, Smart, and Sustainable City Solutions, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The conference brought together representatives from cities across India and abroad, experts, and municipal officials to discuss innovative urban development solutions. Mayor Kharkwal actively participated in sessions throughout the day, sharing insights on urban development and smart city initiatives for Lucknow.
Water Management and Technology Solutions
The day began at 10 AM with a session on Water and Wastewater Management, focusing on efficient water supply, 24×7 access to clean water, recycling wastewater, river conservation, and cost-effective technological solutions. Mayor Kharkwal emphasized the importance of water conservation and planned usage in rapidly expanding urban areas.
Emphasis on Waste Management and Smart Cleaning Systems
The following session addressed Sanitation, Solid Waste, and Resource Recovery, highlighting waste reduction, segregation of wet and dry waste, energy recovery from waste, reuse of construction debris, and modern urban cleaning systems. Exhibitors demonstrated innovative smart technologies, allowing the Mayor to interact with stakeholders and explore practical solutions.
Networking and Affordable Housing Discussions
A networking lunch facilitated exchange of experiences among city representatives. In the Housing for All session, discussions revolved around affordable housing, optimal land and finance utilization, PPP models for housing development, and new innovations in residential infrastructure.
Urban Infrastructure Financing and City Planning
The afternoon sessions focused on Innovative Urban Infrastructure Financing, including municipal bonds, public-private partnerships, green finance, and secure project implementation. The subsequent Infrastructure Conclave emphasized city planning, essential civic amenities, and effective municipal management strategies.
Digital Governance for Citizen Convenience
Digital governance featured prominently, covering citizen e-governance platforms, online approval systems, smart utility services, cybersecurity, and database-driven tax systems, aiming to enhance accessibility and efficiency of public services.
