Lucknow: A crucial meeting regarding the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls for Assembly constituencies was convened in Lucknow under the chairmanship of Vijay Vishwas Pant, Divisional Commissioner, Lucknow Division and Roll Observer. The meeting was attended by representatives of recognized political parties of the district.
During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner informed participants that, as per the programme issued by the Election Commission of India, New Delhi, the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls is being carried out smoothly in Lucknow district with 01 January 2026 as the qualifying date. Under the prescribed schedule, the draft electoral rolls for all nine Assembly constituencies of Lucknow district were published on 06 January 2026 across 4,132 polling stations.

According to the Commission’s timeline, the period for filing claims and objections is from 06 January to 06 February 2026. During this phase, notices, hearings, verification, and disposal of claims and objections are being conducted simultaneously by the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs). The final date for disposal has been fixed as 27 February 2026, following which the final publication of electoral rolls will take place on 06 March 2026, subject to the Commission’s approval.
Representatives of political parties raised several practical concerns during the meeting, including issuance of notices to individuals who had already submitted enumeration forms, difficulties in accepting Form-6 in rural areas, apprehensions regarding verification of Form-7 in some localities, and challenges in enrolling voters in newly developed colonies.
Clarifying these issues, the District Election Officer stated that Form-6 applications will not be returned under any circumstances, verification in Form-7 cases will be conducted strictly as per rules, and special camps will be organized in newly developed colonies and PMAY housing areas to facilitate voter enrollment.

It was also informed that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been authorized to represent elderly or infirm voters during hearings by submitting documents on their behalf.
Concluding the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner directed all Booth Level Officers to ensure continuous, effective, and intensive monitoring of electoral work and to maximize enrollment of eligible citizens with timely and accurate data entry.
Representatives of all political parties present appreciated the transparency, inclusiveness, and systematic implementation of the Special Intensive Revision campaign of electoral rolls.
