Lucknow: A high-level review meeting of development works being executed by the Public Works Department (PWD) in the Lucknow Division was held at the Commissioner’s Conference Hall, under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant. The meeting focused on the progress of road works, bridge construction, repair projects, contract formation, helipad development, and traffic-related schemes.
During the review, the Divisional Commissioner noted that under the road widening and strengthening schemes, 31 out of 34 approved works in the Lucknow Division have been completed, while three projects are currently in progress. He directed officials to ensure that the remaining works are completed mandatorily within the current financial year.

Under the new construction schemes, 117 out of 122 sanctioned works have been completed, with five projects still underway. The Commissioner instructed department officials to complete these pending works within the stipulated timeline.
Reviewing the renewal and special repair schemes, it was reported that all 109 sanctioned works in the Lucknow Division have been successfully completed. Expressing satisfaction, the Divisional Commissioner praised the departmental officers for achieving this target.
Regarding bridge construction under the Public Works Department, 20 out of 22 sanctioned bridges in the division have been completed, while work on two bridges remains in progress. The Commissioner issued firm instructions to complete these bridges within the ongoing financial year.
Similarly, under the Bridge Corporation (Setu Nigam), nine out of 35 sanctioned bridges have been completed, while construction on the remaining bridges is ongoing. The Commissioner directed officials to ensure timely completion of all remaining bridge projects as per the approved schedule.

For the financial year 2025–26, a total of 1,086 works related to widening, strengthening, new construction, renewal, special repair, and bridge construction have been approved for the Lucknow Division. Against this, contracts for 600 works have been executed so far. The Divisional Commissioner instructed officials to expedite the contract formation process for all remaining works to ensure smooth progress on the ground.
The meeting also reviewed the helipad construction plan at district, tehsil, and development block headquarters. Under the plan, helipad construction has been proposed at 99 locations across the Lucknow Division. The Commissioner directed officials to coordinate closely with the Revenue Department at the district level and complete the site selection process at the earliest.
To address traffic-related issues on key routes such as Ayodhya Road, Amar Shaheed Path, and Dubagga Road, the Divisional Commissioner instructed the PWD to prepare a comprehensive and effective action plan in coordination with the Traffic Police Department.
Concluding the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner made it clear that timely and quality completion of all development works is the government’s top priority, and no negligence at any level will be tolerated.
