Lucknow: A division-level review meeting of electoral rolls for Lucknow was held at the NIC Auditorium under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) program, chaired by Special Roll Observer Sanjay Kumar Agrawal (IAS). The meeting was attended in person by Roll Observer/Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, District Election Officer/District Magistrate Vishakh G, Additional District Magistrates (Finance & Revenue, Trans Gomti), all Electoral Registration Officers, and other officials, while officials from other districts joined via video conferencing.
The session began with district election officers presenting geographical details and electoral activities of their respective districts. Updates were shared on polling stations, voter accessibility points, BLO deployments, progress of counting forms, voter mapping, and digitized forms. Officials also reported on the verification of ASD-category voters identified during door-to-door visits by BLOs.
Special Roll Observer Agrawal directed that all mapping and logical error notices be finalized online immediately after hearings. Claims and objections received during the publication period must be verified by BLOs and resolved within the stipulated timeframe. He emphasized the need for transparency, impartiality, and accuracy in preparing electoral rolls, ensuring no eligible voter is excluded and no ineligible voter is included.
Agrawal also urged officials to promote new voter registration, particularly Form-6, and to maintain coordination for the timely completion of the SIR program. A meeting with political party representatives from Lucknow was also conducted, where parties commended the SIR process.
Following the review, the Special Roll Observer inspected the VRC/hearing site at Eco Garden under Assembly Constituency 175, Lucknow Cantonment, evaluating the hearing procedures and the disposal of received applications. He expressed satisfaction with the progress and praised the Electoral Registration Officer for their diligent work.
