Lucknow: Tourism in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has evolved beyond visits to historical and religious sites, emerging as a powerful medium to highlight good governance, women safety and social responsibility. Taking this vision forward, the ‘Lucknow Darshan’ electric double-decker bus service will be launched in the state capital from January 7, offering tourists a unique blend of heritage exploration and a glimpse of the state’s robust law-and-order framework.
Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh will flag off the eco-friendly bus service on January 6. Operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC), the initiative aims to promote sustainable urban tourism while reinforcing the government’s commitment to women’s safety and inclusive development.
Significantly, the city tour will commence from 1090 Chauraha, a landmark that has become synonymous with women safety and empowerment in Uttar Pradesh. The choice of this starting point reflects the government’s strategic intent to integrate tourism with social awareness. Today, 1090 Chauraha stands as a symbol of the success of Mission Shakti and the state’s women-centric policing initiatives, sending a clear message that safety and development go hand in hand.
The electric double-decker bus offers a pollution-free, modern and secure travel experience while presenting Lucknow’s rich cultural and historical heritage in a new and engaging format. After two successful mock drills, the service is now set to begin regular operations.

The city tour will be available daily in two slots—from 8:30 am to 11:30 am and 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The morning route will cover 1090 Chauraha, Raj Bhavan, GPO, Hazratganj, Begum Hazrat Mahal Park, Globe Park, Chhatar Manzil and Residency, including a 40-minute guided visit. The bus will then pass through Sibtainabad Imambara, return to Hazratganj for a special view of the Vidhan Sabha building, and proceed via Raj Bhavan and Cathedral Church to UP Darshan Park, Ambedkar Park and Gomti Riverfront, before concluding at 1090 Chauraha.
The evening tour will feature the Light and Sound Show at Residency as a special attraction.
Overall, the ‘Lucknow Darshan’ electric double-decker bus service presents a balanced model of heritage tourism, environmental responsibility and public safety, effectively showcasing the Yogi government’s vision of good governance to visitors and residents alike.
