Lucknow – Lokdal’s National President, Sunil Singh, expressed strong discontent with the recently presented Union Budget, stating that it fails to address key issues such as support for farmers, rising inflation, and unemployment. He emphasized that while the exemption of income tax up to ₹12 lakh is commendable, the budget as a whole presents a bleak outlook for the common man.
Singh pointed out that India remains an agrarian country, and there is an urgent need for diversification in crop production. He particularly criticized the absence of a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP), which has been a long-standing demand from farmers. Singh mentioned that farmers have been protesting for the last four years for MSP legal backing, but this crucial issue has not been addressed in the budget. He questioned the government’s commitment to the welfare of farmers, noting that this budget seems to prioritize elections in specific states over broader national needs.
The Lokdal leader also highlighted the alarming increase in the prices of basic commodities over the past decade. Despite the fact that 80 crore people still stand in line for free food, there seems to be no significant reduction in taxes or GST on daily essentials, which continues to burden the common citizen. Singh stated that the budget offers no concrete relief for the people and that there is “nothing but darkness” in the proposed measures.
Singh further expressed concern over the government’s neglect of job creation, stating that neither employment nor income support for the disadvantaged sections of society is part of the budgetary priorities. “This budget is presented as a solution, but in reality, it offers nothing to the poor, small traders, or farmers. The youth, women, and farmers are all facing hardships, yet no significant steps have been taken to address their concerns,” he remarked.
He also emphasized that inflation, poverty, and unemployment have reached alarming levels and have made life increasingly difficult for the masses. According to Singh, the government’s approach over the past 10 years has been to toy with the public’s emotions through budget presentations that ultimately fail to deliver tangible benefits.
In conclusion, Singh stated that the budget continues to ignore the needs of the common people and farmers, underscoring a growing sense of disillusionment with the current administration’s economic policies.
