New Delhi: Seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton, currently racing for Scuderia Ferrari, has shared his dream of traveling through India and trekking the Himalayas, with ambitions of eventually climbing Mount Everest.
In a recent video released by F1, Hamilton said, “Where I really want to go is… I want to travel through India and then make my way up through the Himalayas. That’s like a future dream for me, and then I’m going to climb Mount Everest.”
Hamilton, known for holding the records for the most wins, pole positions, and podium finishes in Formula 1 history, is preparing for the 2026 season, which begins with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 8. Pre-season testing took place in Bahrain from February 11 to 20.
The British racing star’s switch to Ferrari in 2025 ended his 12-year association with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, making it one of the most high-profile moves in recent F1 history. Partnering with Charles Leclerc, Hamilton faced a challenging debut season in the Ferrari car.
He finished sixth in the championship standings, 86 points behind Leclerc, and, for the first time in his career, did not reach a Grand Prix podium, although he secured a notable victory in China. Mechanical issues and on-track incidents hampered his overall performance throughout the season.

Meanwhile, the 2025 F1 season saw Lando Norris of McLaren clinch his first Formula 1 World Championship, edging out Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. The season included 24 races in which Norris, Verstappen, and Oscar Piastri consistently battled at the front, creating a highly competitive championship. Norris achieved 18 podium finishes and maintained top-five consistency to secure the title.
McLaren also claimed their 10th Constructors’ Championship, marking a second consecutive team victory. The outfit won six of the 24 Grands Prix, including a decisive performance at the Singapore Grand Prix, where Norris and Piastri dominated.
Hamilton’s move to Ferrari drew huge attention from fans and analysts alike, but adjusting to a new team and car proved challenging. As the 2026 season approaches, Hamilton remains focused on reclaiming his competitive edge while pursuing personal ambitions beyond the racetrack.
Hamilton’s expressed desire to explore India and tackle Mount Everest highlights his adventurous spirit and determination to push boundaries, both on and off the circuit.
