Lucknow– Industry experts from leading organizations shared valuable insights and success mantras with budding managers through intensive cohort-based training sessions during the Re-Orientation Program at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow.
Johny Stephen, Global Head of Sales at GoComet, highlighted the advantages that today’s budding managers have as they enter the corporate world. “Unlike those who started their careers ten or twenty years ago, today’s budding managers have access to various learning exposures and technological advantages. This exposure will enable them to succeed rapidly in their corporate journeys. In your 20s, focus on having an absolute learning mindset and excelling in one area. In your 30s, dedicate yourself to mastering that area, and by your 40s, aim to mentor and lead others. This is the right approach to a successful career,” he advised.
NishantSood, Head of Customer Marketing at Kimberly-Clark, advised young professionals to approach their early careers with a mindset of absorption and openness. “Be like a sponge—absorb everything. Avoid being judgmental and stretch your capabilities. The first five years of your career are all about learning, experiencing new things, going into the field, rolling up your sleeves, and focusing on execution. Everything else will follow,” he said.
Nupur Jain, Talent Acquisition Head at Saxo Bank, emphasized the importance of upskilling and continuous learning for thriving in the corporate world. “Various tools are available to make your daily life easier, but there is no shortcut to hard work and success. In the current scenario, upskilling, continuous learning, and adaptability are essential mindsets for every aspiring manager. Be authentic by being self-aware, and focus on both your key strengths and development areas before applying for a job in any company,” she advised.
Simar D Singh, Partner at KPMG, shared three essential tips for budding managers to excel: “Firstly, stay intellectually curious by continually asking questions and upskilling yourself. Secondly, remember that completing an MBA is just the beginning of your journey, not the end. Thirdly, always challenge the status quo.”
Debargha Deb, GM-HR at DS-Group, emphasized the importance of embracing new experiences and continuous learning. “As a student, always be open to new experiences and adaptable to different situations and environments. Strive to become an expert in your chosen subjects. The more knowledge and experiences you accumulate, the more respect you will earn in the workplace,” he advised.
The Re-Orientation program featured a range of workshops and sessions such as Guesstimate Workshops, Domain Interviews, Aptitude Refreshers, and Leveraging ChatGPT for framing powerful CVs. These sessions were designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in their professional careers.
