Lecture Series on Dr. Pitamber Datt Barthwal Organized at University of Lucknow

Lucknow: The Department of Hindi and Modern Indian Languages, University of Lucknow, organized the Dr. Pitamber Datt Barthwal Lecture Series on October 29, 2025. The event featured insightful presentations by two research scholars from the department — Sughosh Mishra and Shobhit Dwivedi — who presented their research papers on “Gorakh and Kabir ka Shabda-Yog” and “Relevance of Charvaka Philosophy” respectively.

The session began with a warm welcome extended to the chief guest, former Professor Harishankar Mishra, by Prof. Pawan Agrawal, Head of the Department, and Prof. Hemanshu Sen, the convenor of the lecture series.

In his address, Prof. Mishra appreciated the initiative of the department in fostering a culture of intellectual dialogue and research-driven discussion among young scholars. He emphasized that such lecture series not only encourage academic curiosity but also uphold the legacy of eminent scholars like Dr. Pitamber Datt Barthwal, who made significant contributions to Hindi literature and criticism.

The event witnessed active participation from the department’s faculty members, including Prof. Suraj Bahadur Thapa, Prof. Yogendra Pratap Singh, Prof. Shruti, Prof. Alka Pandey, Dr. Mamta Tiwari, and Dr. Rahul Pandey, along with a large number of students and research scholars.

The lecture series reflected the department’s commitment to promoting scholarly discourse and nurturing young researchers in the field of Hindi literature and philosophy.
