Lucknow: On the occasion of International Yoga Day, June 21, 2025, the Lalit Kala Akademi Regional Centre in Lucknow organized a special yoga session at 8:00 a.m. in the premises of the Centre. The session was led by renowned yoga instructor Dr. Anil Prakash, who conducted yoga exercises in the gallery of the Centre, promoting holistic well-being among the participants.
In a unique blend of art and wellness, a live painting demonstration was also held alongside the yoga session. The demonstration, conducted by artist Amit Kumar, visually explored the harmony of body, mind, and spirit through the lens of yoga. His artwork emphasized that through yoga, a person can attain complete physical, mental, and emotional health, thereby experiencing joy and inner peace.
During the session, Dr. Anil Prakash emphasized that yoga is not just limited to physical postures or exercise but is a deeper practice aimed at emotional integration and mental focus. He said that while physical movements help in strengthening the body and mind, the true essence of yoga lies in achieving inner calm and mindfulness despite the external chaos.
Dr. Devendra Kumar Tripathi, Regional Secretary of the Regional Centre, shared his thoughts on the spiritual significance of yoga. He stated that in spiritual terms, yoga means union with the divine and is a discipline that helps an individual lead a meaningful life. He further explained that yoga, being an ancient Indian lifestyle practice, plays an essential role in our daily routine by integrating the body, mind, and soul.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from several dignitaries and art professionals, including Girish Chandra Mishra (Vice President, State Lalit Kala Akademi), Venugopal Parashar, Rajeev Pratap Singh, Shitanshu Gupt Maurya, Prem Sagar Sharma, Shivbalak, Poonam Singh Rathore, Uday Pratap, and Vikas Singh, along with the resident artists, officials, and staff of the centre.
The celebration served as a beautiful confluence of yoga and visual art, highlighting the importance of holistic wellness and creativity in everyday life.
