Lucknow: The Regional Centre of Lalit Kala Akademi, Lucknow, held a solemn condolence meeting today to pay tribute to the eminent wash painting artist Rajeev Mishra, whose untimely demise has left the art world in deep sorrow. The event took place at the Akademi premises, where fellow artists, family members, students, and admirers gathered to offer their heartfelt respects.
The gathering remembered Mishra’s illustrious artistic journey and his invaluable contributions to Indian art. His close friend and senior artist Mahendra Bhishm, Dr. Devendra Tripathi (Regional Secretary), artist Kiran Rathore, senior artist Bhupendra Asthana, and his daughters Ms. Mukti, Stuti, and Mihir shared emotional tributes, recalling personal memories and the deep influence of his work.
Dr. Devendra Tripathi, in his address, said, “There was a spiritual calmness in Shri Mishra’s art. He was not just an artist but a thinker who expressed life through colours and lines. His wash paintings embodied a profound dialogue with nature, life, and culture.”
Senior artist Bhupendra Asthana described Mishra as more than just a fellow artist—“He was like a guardian. Every moment spent with him was filled with creative energy. He beautifully brought traditional Indian techniques into a contemporary context. His passing is an irreparable loss to the world of Indian wash painting.”
