Lucknow : On the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University, Lucknow, organized a grand yoga event on its campus. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, students, administrative staff, their families, and community representatives.
The celebration aligns with the global observance of Yoga Day, which has been commemorated annually on June 21 since its proclamation by the United Nations in 2014, following the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” emphasized holistic well-being and global unity through the power of yoga.
Under the expert guidance of yoga instructor Alaukik, participants performed various yoga asanas, pranayama techniques, and meditation sessions, which brought a sense of mental calm and physical vitality. Speakers at the event highlighted the scientific benefits of yoga and encouraged attendees to integrate it into their daily routine.
Prof. Ajay Taneja, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the university, addressed the gathering and urged everyone to embrace yoga as a way of life. He described yoga as India’s priceless heritage and a gift to the world, capable of harmonizing the body, mind, and soul. As a symbol of sustainability, Prof. Taneja also planted a tree on campus under the campaign “One Tree for Mother”, reinforcing the university’s commitment to the environment.
The program was live-streamed in the Atal Auditorium and extended to adopted villages through hybrid mode by NCC, NSS volunteers, and Rovers-Rangers units. Villagers from various adopted communities such as Chakkarpurwa, Naharpurwa, Jagora Purwa, Diguria, Kakoli, and Mubarakpur actively took part in yoga and Suryanamaskar sessions. University program officers including Dr. Abhay Krishna, Dr. Saima Aleem, Dr. Zafroon Naqi, Dr. Poonam Chaudhary, Dr. Ram Das, and Dr. Manish Kumar educated rural participants about the benefits of yoga.

In addition to the yoga sessions, the university also hosted a Yoga Exhibition and an Essay Competition to further engage students and raise awareness about yoga’s cultural and health value.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Registrar Dr. Mahesh Kumar, who emphasized that in today’s fast-paced world, yoga acts as a natural remedy for physical and mental health, and can be practiced by people of all ages.
Present on the occasion were Finance Officer Sajid Azmi, Dr. Nalini Mishra, Dr. Shariq, Dr. Bushra Alvera, along with a large number of teachers, students, and family members, participating both physically and online. The celebration marked a resounding affirmation of the university’s commitment to a healthier and more balanced way of life through yoga.
