Khadi Mahotsav 2025 in Lucknow: A Boost to Swadeshi Spirit and Self-Employment

Lucknow: The Khadi Mahotsav-2025 continues to draw massive crowds in the state capital, with the fourth day witnessing long queues of enthusiastic buyers. From khadi garments and traditional handicrafts to self-help group products, the demand for swadeshi items surged as visitors flocked to the vibrant stalls at the Central Sanskrit University in Gomti Nagar, where the event has been under way since November 21.

The festival has emerged as a strong platform under the Yogi Adityanath government’s initiatives to promote self-employment, traditional craftsmanship and the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Local artisans, weavers and women entrepreneurs from self-help groups are finding renewed opportunities to showcase and market their products to a wider audience.

Stall owners reported brisk sales of khadi clothing, handwoven textiles, natural products and indigenous crafts. Citizens from across the city thronged the venue, appreciating the craftsmanship and supporting homegrown artisans. The festival has also infused significant energy into the local handicraft ecosystem, helping artisans secure better income and visibility.

Officials highlighted that the state government has rolled out several schemes to strengthen khadi, village industries and traditional crafts. Initiatives such as One District One Product (ODOP), PM-FME Scheme, and policies dedicated to micro-industries have generated employment opportunities for thousands of youth. The Khadi Mahotsav is a reflection of these efforts, offering entrepreneurs a platform for market expansion, technological advancement and new business prospects.

As the festival continues, it stands as a symbol of Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to preserving heritage industries while empowering artisans and promoting swadeshi culture.
