KGMU’s HRF Expansion: 3 New Outlets Launched Under Vice Chancellor’s Visionary Leadership

LUCKNOW – In a significant move toward making healthcare more affordable and accessible, King George’s Medical University (KGMU) has launched three new Hospital Revolving Fund (HRF) medicine outlets. Spearheaded by the visionary leadership of the Honorable Vice Chancellor, this expansion brings the total number of operational centers to 25, reinforcing KGMU’s commitment to providing high-quality medicines at minimal rates.

The successful rollout of these facilities was executed under the guidance of Chairman Prof. Kumar Shantanu, coordinated by Faculty In-charge Prof. Balendra, and supported by the administrative and financial strategies of HRF Financial Advisor Mr. Dinesh Srivastava.

Strategic Placement for High Patient Inflow

KGMU’s Outpatient Department (OPD) sees a massive daily footfall ranging from 5,000 to 8,000 patients, occasionally peaking at 10,000. To manage this demand and alleviate the financial burden on families, a primary HRF outlet has been opened on the ground floor of the Main OPD Building. This center offers medicines at discounts of up to 80%, ensuring that essential treatments remain within reach for even the most economically vulnerable.

Additionally, two specialized outlets have been inaugurated in the Shatabdi Phase-II building—located on the second and fifth floors. These centers are strategically placed to provide direct access to medicines and surgical supplies for patients undergoing treatment in those blocks, significantly reducing waiting times and streamlining the care process.

Features of the New HRF Ecosystem

To ensure a seamless experience for patients and maintain high operational standards, the university has implemented several modern features across its outlets:

  • Digital Convenience: All outlets are equipped with online payment facilities to promote cashless and hassle-free transactions.

  • Security and Transparency: Every center operates under 24/7 CCTV surveillance to ensure complete transparency in medicine distribution and safety.

  • Extended Hours: Outlets remain functional for at least 12 hours daily, catering to the diverse needs of patients traveling from across the state.

  • Stock Expansion: The range of life-saving drugs and surgical equipment is being continuously expanded based on real-time patient requirements.

The Road to 30: Future Expansion

The university administration is not stopping at 25. Construction is already underway for four additional outlets, including:

  1. A dedicated outlet at the New Lari Cardiology center.

  2. A new facility located opposite the Department of Surgery.

  3. A 24×7 operational hub near the Cobalt Unit.

  4. Specialized outlets for the Geriatric and Psychiatry departments.

“This initiative is a major step toward providing transparent, accessible, and affordable healthcare,” stated Prof. K.K. Singh, Media In-charge. “Our priority is to ensure that no patient is deprived of treatment due to financial constraints. The growing public trust in HRF is a testament to this success.”

Bedside Supply: The Next Frontier

Looking ahead, KGMU plans to revolutionize its delivery model by introducing direct bedside supply of medicines and surgical materials. This move is designed to assist in emergency and scheduled surgeries, ensuring that vital supplies are available instantly, thereby reducing the workload on medical staff and minimizing the stress on patient relatives.

This expansion reaffirms KGMU’s enduring mission: to ensure that every patient has access to cheap, safe, and accessible pharmaceutical care.
