KGMU’s Department of PMR Discusses Physiotherapy on World Physiotherapy Day

LUCKNOW – A special event was held at the Physiotherapy Unit of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) to commemorate World Physiotherapy Day. The function focused on modern and advanced treatment methods within the field of physiotherapy.

Dr. Arvind Sonkar, an Associate Professor, gave a detailed presentation on the latest techniques and advancements in physiotherapy. Dr. Atul Mishra, President of the Provincial Physiotherapy Association, highlighted the growing importance of physiotherapy in modern healthcare, stating that the discipline has proven its utility in every field of medicine.

Dr. Mishra also provided a brief history of World Physiotherapy Day, noting that the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (now known as World Physiotherapy), the sole organization representing all physical therapists globally, was founded on September 8, 1951. World Physiotherapy Day was officially declared on September 8, 1996, to celebrate the historical formation of this key organization.

The event saw the attendance of several other physiotherapists, including Dr. Mansoor, Dr. Manmohan, Dr. Manvendra Singh, Dr. Pranay Singh, Dr. Ravindra Gautam, Dr. Shraddha Verma, Dr. Harshika Srivastava, and Dr. Akanksha.
