KGMU Inaugurates 40-Bed Casualty Unit and 6-Bed Ventilator Facility at Trauma Centre

Lucknow – In a major boost to emergency healthcare, King George’s Medical University (KGMU) inaugurated a newly renovated 40-bed casualty unit along with a 6-bed ventilator facility at its Trauma Centre on Monday. The inauguration was carried out by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sonia Nityanand, marking a significant step in strengthening critical care services for patients arriving from across Uttar Pradesh and beyond.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Premraj Singh, Chief Medical Superintendent of the Trauma Centre, said the expansion would greatly enhance treatment facilities for emergency patients. “With the availability of 40 casualty beds and six ventilator-supported beds, critical cases can now be managed more effectively, ensuring timely intervention and saving lives,” he noted.

Dr. Amiya Agrawal, Medical Superintendent of the Trauma Centre, added that the increase in ventilator capacity would significantly upgrade patient care. “The enhanced infrastructure will allow healthcare teams to deliver faster and more effective treatment to those in life-threatening conditions,” he said.

The inauguration was attended by several senior officials and faculty members, including Dr. B.K. Ojha (CMS, GM & H), Dr. Suresh Kumar (MS, GM & H), Dr. K.K. Singh (Media In-charge and Dean, Paramedics), Dr. Ashish Srivastava (HoD), Dr. Haider Abbas, Dr. Avinash Agrawal, Dr. Sameer Mishra, Dr. Vaibhav Jaiswal, Dr. Yadvendra Dheer, Dr. Dhirendra Patel (CMO), and Dr. Sameer Kumar.

The initiative is expected to provide substantial relief to the rising number of trauma and emergency patients, particularly those coming from distant districts. With upgraded facilities, KGMU aims to set a new benchmark in emergency and critical care delivery in Uttar Pradesh.
