Lucknow | The King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, has decided to confer the title of Honorary Professorship upon Dr. Vinod Jain, retired Professor from the Department of Surgery, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to medical education, skill development, and academic excellence. The honorary position is non-remunerative and will be held for a tenure of three years.
Dr. Jain, who served KGMU with distinction, is widely credited for pioneering initiatives in skill development, competency-based medical education, soft skill enhancement, and paramedical sciences at the university. His work has been instrumental in shaping modern medical training methods that align with global educational standards.
According to the KGMU administration, under the honorary professorship, Dr. Jain will engage in at least 15 hours annually of teaching, training, and academic interaction with faculty members and students of the Faculty of Paramedical Sciences and the Centre for Advanced Skill Development, with at least one-third of these sessions conducted in offline mode.
The university emphasized that Dr. Jain’s expertise will help strengthen teaching and training activities, promote competency-based learning, and enhance soft skill development among medical and paramedical students.
As an Honorary Professor, Dr. Jain will also be eligible to serve as a co-guide for postgraduate (PG) and PhD theses, and may act as a co-investigator in research projects applying for external funding, alongside the university’s lead investigators.
KGMU officials stated that this recognition reflects the institution’s commitment to honoring distinguished academicians who continue to contribute meaningfully to medical education and research, even after retirement.
