Lucknow — A crucial meeting of the Governing Body of the Amir-ud-Daula Public Library, chaired by Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, was held on Friday at the historic library complex in Kaiserbagh to finalise key proposals for the financial year 2025–26.
The meeting focused extensively on strengthening, modernising, and expanding reader-centric services at one of Lucknow’s oldest public libraries. The budget for the upcoming financial year was formally approved. The Divisional Commissioner also issued directives regarding the revision of computer lab user fees, framing rules for weeding out damaged books, and increasing the number of security guards to improve library management.
During his visit, the Divisional Commissioner inspected several important sections of the library, including the Munshi Nawal Kishore Museum, the children’s section, and the computer lab/competitive study area. He provided specific instructions aimed at elevating the library’s infrastructure, services, and overall reader experience.

Reviewing progress, the Commissioner noted that the scanning and digitisation of book pages, as well as the creation of the e-catalogue, have been fully completed. He further directed officials to develop the Amir-ud-Daula Library along the lines of the State Central Library and to upgrade its setup to international standards.
The meeting was attended by officers from concerned departments, members of the Board of Governors, and representatives of the library administration, who collectively discussed future roadmaps for modernising this heritage institution.
