Kanpur: The city of Kanpur witnessed a vibrant celebration of literature, art, and culture as the “Kanpur Book Fair 2025” was inaugurated today at the Government Inter College, Chunni Ganj. The grand opening ceremony was graced by Kanpur Mayor Mrs. Pramila Pandey, who inaugurated the fair by lighting the ceremonial lamp, marking the beginning of a week-long cultural and literary extravaganza.
In her inspiring inaugural address, Mayor Pramila Pandey said, “Books are not merely a source of knowledge but the carriers of our civilization, culture, and values. In today’s digital era, when the reading culture is gradually fading, book fairs like this one are a wonderful effort to reconnect society with books. The younger generation must engage with the world of books, as a good book provides us with the right perspective towards life.”
Congratulating the organizers, she added,“Kanpur has always been the land of literature and journalism. This book fair will serve as a symbol of tradition and progress coming together.”
The event was attended by Sushil Kumar (Managing Director, UPMSRC) and Ankur Goyal (Regional Council Member, IESI) as special guests. Both speakers highlighted the enduring importance of books in fostering intellectual curiosity and spreading literary awareness in society.
The program was anchored by Naveen Shukla and attended by renowned litterateur Dr. Manish Shukla and veteran journalist Sridhar Agnihotri. Visitors thronged the stall of Shilpayan Publications, managed by Umesh Sharma, showcasing a wide range of literary works.
The organizing team included Manoj Singh Chandel, Sanjay Kumar Singh (Chairperson), and Aakarsh Chandel (Director, Forceone Books), who played key roles in making the event a success.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by distinguished personalities from the fields of literature, journalism, art, and education, along with students, writers, poets, and citizens from across the city.
The fair features book stalls from various publishers, along with literary discussions, poetry recitations, art exhibitions, and interactive sessions aimed at promoting a culture of reading and creativity.
Organized under the aegis of Forceone Books, the event carries the noble vision of “Spreading the Light of Knowledge.” Supporting partners include Origins, Vijay Studio, Kanpur Metro, Kiran Foundation, City Essence, and Trade Mitra.
