Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup 2025 Schedule Unveiled

CHENNAI – The FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup will be held in Chennai and Madurai from November 28 to December 10, 2025. The tournament will kick off with a match between defending champions Germany and South Africa in Madurai on November 28. India will begin their campaign on the same day against Chile, followed by a highly anticipated match against arch-rivals Pakistan on November 29. India’s final league match will be against Switzerland on December 2 in Madurai.

The tournament schedule was released yesterday by Tamil Nadu’s Deputy Chief Minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin, at a press conference that was also attended by FIH President Tayyab Ikram, Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey, and Secretary General Bholanath Singh. For the first time, this World Cup will feature 24 teams from across the globe.

The 24 teams have been divided into six groups of four. India has been placed in Group B alongside Pakistan, Chile, and Switzerland. FIH President Tayyab Ikram stated that the launch of the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Tamil Nadu 2025 match schedule marks another exciting milestone on the journey to this prestigious event.

“For the first time in FIH history, the Junior World Cup will feature 24 teams, a major achievement under the FIH empowerment and engagement strategy. This not only underscores the global growth and inclusivity of hockey but also provides an opportunity for emerging hockey nations to compete with the top-established teams,” Ikram said.

Udhayanidhi Stalin expressed his commitment to ensuring a successful event, saying, “We are committed to working with Hockey India and the International Hockey Federation (FIH) to ensure this tournament becomes one of the most memorable events in history.” Regarding Pakistan’s participation, Dilip Tirkey mentioned that the FIH and the Indian government have welcomed the Pakistani team, and their name is on the schedule, although confirmation from the Pakistan Hockey Federation is awaited. The final will take place on December 10 in Chennai.

The groups are as follows:

Pool A: Germany, South Africa, Canada, Ireland. Pool B: India, Pakistan, Chile, Switzerland. Pool C: Argentina, New Zealand, Japan, China. Pool D: Spain, Belgium, Egypt, Namibia. Pool E: Netherlands, Malaysia, England, Austria. Pool F: France, Australia, Korea, Bangladesh.
