JioStar Bags Exclusive Rights to US Open for Five Years

MUMBAI – JioStar has announced that it has secured the exclusive broadcast and streaming rights for the US Open Tennis Championships for the next five years. The deal, brokered by the USTA’s media rights agency, IMG, will bring comprehensive coverage of the prestigious Grand Slam tournament to Indian audiences.

Under the new agreement, all matches from the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center will be broadcast on the Star Sports Network and streamed on JioHotstar. This partnership ensures that millions of Indian tennis fans will have access to every moment of the tournament, from aces to championships.

The 2025 edition of the US Open promises to be particularly exciting, featuring a star-studded lineup of players including Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Świątek, Novak Djokovic, and Coco Gauff. Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka will be returning to defend their men’s and women’s singles titles, respectively. This year’s tournament will also introduce a reimagined mixed doubles championship, with 16 elite pairs competing for a prize of $1 million. The field for this event will include high-profile pairings like Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu, and Djokovic with Olga Danilovic.

Harry Griffith, Head of International Acquisitions & Syndication at JioStar, expressed his excitement about the acquisition. “We are thrilled to add the US Open to our expanding portfolio of world-class sporting events,” he said. “This association with the USTA deepens the range of premier global sports content available to fans on our platforms.”

Kirsten Corio, Chief Commercial Officer of the USTA, also praised the partnership, stating, “JioStar’s forward-thinking, digital-first approach and their vast scale make them the ideal partner to carry the tournament into a new era.”

This strategic deal further cements JioStar’s position as a major sports destination in India, adding the US Open to a portfolio that already includes rights to major events like ICC tournaments, the Premier League, and Wimbledon. The company plans to enhance its coverage with tech-driven and fan-focused innovations, including multi-language commentary and exclusive behind-the-scenes access.
