Jewar Airport–Ganga Expressway Corridor Gets Boost; ₹1,246 Crore Allocated in Budget

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has accelerated plans to strengthen industrial growth and global connectivity by allocating ₹1,246 crore in the supplementary budget for the construction of a greenfield, access-controlled expressway linking the Noida International Airport at Jewar with the Ganga Expressway. The provision is aimed at fast-tracking land acquisition and removing key bottlenecks, officials said.

The proposed corridor is being seen as a strategic infrastructure project that will significantly enhance logistics efficiency, export movement, passenger connectivity and industrial supply chains. By directly connecting the upcoming international airport with one of the state’s most ambitious expressway projects, the government aims to position Uttar Pradesh as a major hub for global investment and industrial expansion.

According to the state government, the greenfield expressway will provide seamless connectivity between air cargo facilities and industrial clusters along the Ganga Expressway, giving a major push to manufacturing, warehousing, logistics and export-oriented industries. The corridor is also expected to generate large-scale employment and spur the development of new industrial clusters along its route.

In the supplementary budget, the government has also extended broad support to expressway infrastructure. A provision of ₹1,835 crore under the Bridge Gap Fund (BGF) has been made for the Ganga Expressway project, while ₹100 crore has been earmarked for the Gorakhpur Link Expressway to address development hurdles. Additionally, a symbolic provision of ₹5 lakh has been proposed for the construction of public utility complexes and vehicle parking facilities along the 292-km stretch of the Agra–Lucknow Expressway, to be funded through savings under grants.

To further boost industrial investment, the government has proposed substantial allocations under various incentive policies. These include ₹75 crore for the Fast Track Investment Promotion Policy 2020, ₹371.69 crore under the FDI and Fortune-500 Companies Investment Promotion Policy 2023, ₹23.03 crore for the Uttar Pradesh Oxygen Production Promotion Policy 2021, and ₹823.43 crore for the Industrial Investment and Employment Promotion Policy 2022. Additional provisions include ₹100 crore for the Infrastructure and Industrial Development Policy 2012 and ₹300 crore for the Industrial Investment and Employment Promotion Policy 2017.

Support has also been extended to small industries and export promotion, with ₹1.5 crore each allocated for establishment expenses of the District Industries Centre and the Directorate of Industries. In the handloom sector, ₹85 crore has been earmarked for tree-felling and compensatory afforestation charges related to the operation of the PM MITRA Park.

Officials said the Jewar Airport–Ganga Expressway corridor, combined with sustained investment incentives, will act as a catalyst for long-term economic growth, employment generation and Uttar Pradesh’s emergence as a key player in India’s industrial and logistics landscape.
