Jennifer Lopez Reflects on Motherhood, Resilience, and Her Role in Unstoppable

Los Angeles: Jennifer Lopez, known for her multifaceted career as a singer, actress, and producer, recently opened up about navigating personal and professional challenges while promoting her latest film, Unstoppable. In the movie, Lopez portrays Judy Robles, the determined mother of Anthony Robles, a former NCAA wrestling champion who overcame immense odds.

Speaking to E Online, Lopez shared her philosophy on overcoming obstacles. “I believe the way I conquer things is not by thinking of them as occurring to me but by asking, ‘What is the lesson that must be learned right now?’” she said.

Lopez, who filed for divorce from Ben Affleck in August 2024 after two years of marriage, drew parallels between her role and her real-life experiences as a mother to 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, from her previous marriage to Marc Anthony. “As a mother, you understand the need to always present your best self to your kids and offer them the finest care possible,” Lopez said, adding that her portrayal of Judy was influenced by her own journey of balancing motherhood, relationships, and personal goals.

The singer-actress highlighted the emotional depth of the film, particularly the sacrifices parents make to shield their children from hardships. “When you talk to Judy’s kids, including Anthony, they say, ‘My mom’s so positive, she’s so great,’ but there was a whole different story there that she was living, that you hide from your children,” she explained.

Lopez also discussed her meticulous approach to the role, ensuring authenticity in depicting Judy Robles’s life. “I wanted to really understand Judy and make sure she felt safe with me [while] sharing details of her experience,” Lopez said in an earlier interview with Page Six.

Her performance has garnered widespread acclaim, including praise from Affleck, her former husband. “Jennifer’s portrayal is spectacular,” Affleck commented, adding that her connection to the story elevated the narrative’s impact.

Unstoppable explores themes of resilience, sacrifice, and triumph, resonating deeply with audiences and showcasing Lopez’s range as an actress. Despite personal challenges, Lopez continues to shine both on-screen and in life, embracing each role as an opportunity to grow and inspire.
