Jay Stacy Appointed New Head Coach of Vedanta Kalinga Lancers in HIL

New Delhi |  Former Australian hockey Olympian Jay Stacy has been appointed as the new head coach of Vedanta Kalinga Lancers for the upcoming Hockey India League (HIL) season. Stacy takes over from Germany’s Valentine Altenberg, bringing decades of international experience to the Indian franchise.

Stacy boasts an illustrious playing career, having won silver at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, bronze at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, and another bronze at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He was also part of the Australian team that clinched the 1998 Commonwealth Games gold in Kuala Lumpur and the 1999 Champions Trophy. He has coached domestic teams in Australia, the Netherlands, and Belgium, and led the Mumbai franchise in the 2016 and 2017 HIL seasons. Since 2022, he has served as the coach of Australia’s junior men’s hockey team.

Commenting on his appointment, Stacy said, “I am excited to start this new chapter as head coach of Vedanta Kalinga Lancers in the Hockey India League. HIL has taught me a lot as a coach, and I am confident that returning to India to work with this team will be an exciting experience. I am grateful to Vedanta Kalinga Lancers for giving me this opportunity and am ready for this thrilling journey.”
