Jackie Chan says “Muscle Memory” keeps his stunts alive

New Delhi: Global action icon Jackie Chan is all set to make his long-awaited return to the big screen as Mr. Han in the upcoming film Karate Kid: Legends, the sixth instalment in the beloved Karate Kid franchise. At 71 years old, the Hong Kong superstar shows no signs of slowing down—declaring that he will continue doing his own stunts, as he has for over six decades.

“Muscle Memory Keeps Me Going”: Jackie Chan

In a recent interview, Chan reaffirmed his commitment to performing his own stunts despite his age. Known for redefining action cinema through his inventive fight choreography and high-risk sequences, Chan shared that physical prep is no longer necessary for him.

“Of course, I always do my own stunts. It’s who I am. That’s not changing until the day I retire, which is never! And to be honest, when you’ve done it for 64 years straight, there’s no physical preparation anymore. Everything is in your heart and soul; it is muscle memory,” said the actor.

Chan first portrayed Mr. Han in the 2010 reboot of The Karate Kid, and his return to the role after 15 years has created massive buzz among fans of the franchise.

The film stars Joshua Jackson, Ralph Macchio, Ben Wang, and Jackie Chan in leading roles. The story follows Li Fong, a kung fu prodigy who moves to New York City with his mother and struggles to adapt to his new environment and classmates.
