Bareilly – A team of scientists from the Biochemistry Department of ICAR Indian Veterinary Research Institute conducted a field visit to Krishi Vigyan Kendra Anaugi, affiliated with Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology in Kannauj district, Uttar Pradesh. The visit was organized under the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan initiative of ICAR–IVRI, aimed at empowering farmers from Scheduled Caste communities and improving their livelihoods.
The programme commenced with an inaugural address by Dr. V. K. Kannaujia, in-charge of KVK Anaugi, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of scientific interventions in agriculture and allied sectors.
During the session, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Principal Scientist and Programme Coordinator, along with Dr. Mukesh Kumar, encouraged farmers to adopt modern livestock management practices. They also shared detailed information about the various services, training programmes, and support systems offered by IVRI to enhance productivity and income generation.
The event was chaired by Raghvendra Singh, Head of the Biochemistry Department and Programme Coordinator, who emphasized the importance of education, skill development, and vocational training for the holistic progress of farmers, particularly those from marginalized communities.

A total of 25 beneficiaries participated in the programme, including 21 women and 4 men, reflecting strong engagement from rural women in agricultural advancement initiatives. As part of the outreach activity, farmers were provided with essential agricultural materials such as solar lamps, pesticide sprayers, stainless steel grain storage containers, and jute bags containing literature published by IVRI on improved livestock practices.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Arvind Kumar, Soil Scientist at KVK Anaugi. The event was also attended by Seed Inspector Dr. Arun Katiyar, Extension Scientist Dr. Sushil, and other officials, who contributed to the successful execution of the programme.
The initiative highlighted IVRI’s continued commitment to rural development through knowledge dissemination and capacity-building efforts, particularly aimed at uplifting economically weaker farming communities.
