IVRI and Rotary Club, Izzatnagar Organize Awareness Campaigns

Bareilly: On the occasion of World Veterinary Day, the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izzatnagar, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Izzatnagar, organized a series of public awareness programmes. This year’s theme, “The Importance of Teamwork in Veterinary Health”, emphasized the need for collaborative efforts in veterinary services.

The Department of Veterinary Public Health at IVRI played a central role in conducting the events. School students and pet owners were sensitized to the critical role of veterinarians, the prevention of zoonotic diseases, rabies awareness, and the importance of timely vaccination.

As part of the outreach, IVRI officials visited Kendriya Vidyalaya (IVRI), Izzatnagar, where students from Classes 10 and 12 were introduced to various career opportunities in veterinary sciences. These included roles such as veterinarians, researchers, food safety officers, entrepreneurs, public health veterinarians, wildlife vets, military veterinary officers, and disaster relief specialists.

Dr. Himani Dhanje delivered a special lecture on “The Importance of Veterinary Sciences and Career Prospects,” followed by an interactive quiz session, which saw enthusiastic participation from the students.

Additionally, a free rabies vaccination camp for dogs was organized at the Referral Veterinary Polyclinic, IVRI. The Veterinary Public Health team also educated pet owners on first-aid measures in case of dog bites and highlighted the need for regular vaccinations.

The day-long events effectively reflected this year’s theme, bringing together students, pet owners, and veterinary professionals. Their active participation made the celebration of World Veterinary Day both impactful and memorable.
