Hyderabad: The Italy national women’s hockey team has arrived in Hyderabad, Telangana to participate in the upcoming FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 Qualifiers, scheduled from March 8 to 14, 2026. The tournament will feature eight nations, vying for a spot in the prestigious World Cup.
Italy has been placed in Pool A, where they will face England, Korea, and Austria. The European side has previously qualified for the FIH Hockey World Cup twice, first in 1976 and most recently in 2018, when they secured a ninth-place finish, marking their best performance to date.
The Italian team will kick off their campaign on March 8 against England, followed by matches against Austria on March 9 and Korea on March 11.
Speaking on arrival, Italy’s women’s hockey captain, Sara Puglisi, said, “We have arrived in Hyderabad after thorough preparation with the team. We are ready for the qualifiers and eager to give our best performance in pursuit of a World Cup berth.”
The tournament promises high-intensity action as teams compete for qualification, highlighting India’s growing role as a hub for international hockey events.
