“It Feels Like Coming Home”: Saif Ali Khan Marks 10 Years with Netflix India, Announces Hum Hindustani and Kartavya

Mumbai: Saif Ali Khan’s enduring creative partnership with Netflix India came full circle at the streamer’s recent slate reveal event, where the actor reflected on a decade-long journey that began with the groundbreaking series Sacred Games and now expands with two new films — Hum Hindustani and Kartavya.

Revisiting the start of his streaming chapter, Saif described the association in heartfelt terms. “Honestly, it feels like coming home. We started together ten years ago with Sacred Games, which was a lovely and amazing show,” he shared, referencing one of India’s earliest and most influential original web series.

He credited the platform’s commitment to quality as the cornerstone of their long-standing collaboration. “Netflix has always stood for high quality, not just in storytelling but in production as well. There are strict standards, from the cameras we use to the way content is written and created. That consistency has made the journey really interesting,” he said.

Among the newly announced ventures, Hum Hindustani, directed by Rahul Dholakia, holds special significance for the actor. Speaking about the project, Saif called it a meaningful experience. “Getting a chance to do a film like Hum Hindustani, and working with Pratik Gandhi on production, has been incredible. The subject — about how India became the world’s largest democracy — was exciting to tell. It’s been a wonderful experience.” The film is backed by Emmay Entertainment.

Saif also revealed that he has completed shooting for Kartavya, directed by Pulkit and produced under Red Chillies Entertainment, the banner founded by Shah Rukh Khan. Describing it as “a really beautiful piece,” the actor expressed excitement about the film’s release.

With Hum Hindustani and Kartavya, Saif Ali Khan’s streaming journey continues to evolve alongside Netflix India’s expanding creative ambitions — a partnership that, as the actor puts it, truly feels like coming home.
