Lucknow — Isabella Thoburn College ushered in the Christmas spirit with a warm and heartfelt Christmas Cantata on Saturday evening. The event, held at 6:00 pm in the college auditorium, began with the traditional Candlelight Service and featured a beautifully curated sequence of carols and hymns under the theme “The Savior is Born.”
The campus was adorned with festive charm — glittering stars, twinkling lights, wreaths, Christmas trees, and the familiar jingle of bells — setting a magical backdrop as the college community celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ.
The programme opened with an invocation prayer by Acting Principal Dr. (Major) Neerja Masih, setting a serene and reverent tone. The college choir, comprising students and faculty members, presented a series of melodious English and Hindi carols under the direction of Amrutha Edwin. Their soulful performances, interwoven with scripture readings, created an atmosphere of joy, reflection, and spiritual warmth.
The auditorium resonated with beloved carols such as “A Savior Will Come,” “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” “Mary’s Song: Breath of Heaven,” “Emmanuel,” “Angels We Have Heard on High,” “Aasman Se Khushkhabri,” “Daud Ka Shehar,” and “Ye Kaisa Sama Chha Raha Hai.”
The faculty choir’s renditions of “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” “Go Tell It on the Mountain,” and “Angels We Have Heard on High” drew enthusiastic appreciation from the audience. A unifying moment came when everyone joined together in singing the timeless hymn “Joy to the World.”
Visual scenes depicting the Nativity story were projected on screen, adding depth and emotion to the celebration.

Towards the conclusion, Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Gerald John Mathias delivered a message of global peace and harmony, followed by a prayer and blessings for all present. College President Dr. (Mrs.) E.S. Charles extended a warm vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to participants and attendees. The evening closed with a serene rendition of “Silent Night,” capturing the tenderness and wonder of the holy night in Bethlehem.
Guests later enjoyed Christmas cake and coffee, rounding off the evening with fellowship and festive cheer.
