Investor Awareness Program Held at University of Lucknow

Lucknow – The Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), University of Lucknow, in collaboration with the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) and the Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI), organized an Investor Awareness Program on Financial Empowerment through Investment at the Chanakya Auditorium.

The event featured  Amarjeet Singh, Former Executive Director & Whole Time Member, SEBI, as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honour was  Venkat Nageswar Chalasani, Chief Executive, AMFI, while  Surya Kant Sharma, Senior Consultant, AMFI, served as the Guest Speaker.

The program was inaugurated by Prof. Sangeeta Sahu, Head & Dean, FMS, under the patronage of Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, Vice-Chancellor, University of Lucknow. In her address, Prof. Sahu highlighted ongoing curriculum enhancements aimed at equipping students with a deeper understanding of financial markets.

Key Highlights of the Session

  • Amarjeet Singh discussed emerging trends in the investment landscape, emphasizing the role of Mutual Funds and the benefits of Systematic Investment Plans (SIP).
  •  Venkat Nageswar Chalasani provided insights into various investment options, including Government & RBI Bonds, Corporate Bonds, Post Office Schemes, PPF, NPS, Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme, Gold, and Real Estate, stressing the importance of financial inclusion.
  •  Surya Kant Sharma underscored the necessity of regular savings from an early stage in one’s career, advocating for an annual savings increase of at least 10%. He also advised investors to focus on real returns rather than nominal returns, considering the impact of inflation and tax liabilities.

The interactive Q&A session allowed participants to engage with the experts, addressing their concerns on personal finance and investment strategies. The event saw enthusiastic participation from MBA students and faculty members, making it a resounding success.

The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Priya, Faculty Coordinator, who encouraged students to leverage their learnings from the program for informed financial decision-making.
