Artists from Five Nations to Portray Life of Lord Ram on Global Stage
Ayodhya: Ayodhya is set to become a global cultural hub this Deepotsav as an unprecedented international Ramleela will be staged with artists from Russia, Thailand, Indonesia, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. Under the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the 9th edition of Deepotsav will showcase India’s rich heritage on the world stage, transforming Ayodhya into an international centre of cultural tourism.
A total of 90 foreign artists will perform at Ram Katha Park, bringing alive the timeless saga of Lord Ram through their unique traditional art forms.
Highlights of International Performances:
- Russia: 15 artists will depict the divine Swayamvar of Sita, blending Russian theatrical techniques with Indian mythology.
- Thailand: 10 performers will stage three key battles – Shurpanakha episode, conflict with Marich, and the iconic Ram-Ravan war.
- Indonesia: 10 artists will present Lanka Dahan and Ram’s triumphant return to Ayodhya.
- Nepal (First Time): 33 artists will showcase Lakshman’s Shakti episode, introducing a new perspective beyond earlier Sita-centric narratives.
- Sri Lanka (First Time): 22 artists will portray Ravaneshwara, reflecting Sri Lanka’s cultural belief of revering Ravan as a divine figure.
Celebration of Tradition and Global Harmony
According to Ashutosh Dwivedi, Advisor of the International Ramayana and Vedic Research Institute, the Ramleela will run from October 17 to 20. “The aim is to preserve the Ramleela tradition and promote Indian cultural values on an international platform,” he said.

Deepotsav: A Spectacle of Light and Devotion
The Ramleela will be performed amidst millions of earthen lamps lit across 56 ghats and temples, creating a mesmerizing spiritual experience. Traditional decor, modern lighting, and cultural presentations will make the festival unforgettable for devotees and tourists alike.
