International Delegates Attend Conflict Resolution Session at BIRD, Lucknow

Lucknow: A high-impact session on Conflict Resolution was conducted by renowned behavioural trainer and facilitator Chandra Shekhar Varma for an international cohort of participants under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme, an initiative of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

The session was hosted at the Bankers Institute of Rural Development (BIRD), Lucknow, and witnessed participation from delegates representing eight countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.

What made the session particularly significant was the stature of the participants, which included Members of Parliament, mayors, ombudsman representatives, senior government officials, and women leaders. The diverse backgrounds and governance roles of the delegates added depth and complexity to the discussions around conflict resolution in public and institutional contexts.

Despite language barriers, the session stood out for its interactive and experiential approach. Varma adopted a facilitation style that transcended linguistic limitations, focusing on universal human emotions, behavioural patterns, and cross-cultural understanding. The session emphasised practical frameworks for managing conflicts, especially in leadership roles where perception, power dynamics, and public accountability play a critical role.

Participants actively engaged in discussions and activities, sharing insights from their respective countries and governance systems. The session was widely appreciated for its relevance, clarity, and ability to create meaningful connection among delegates from varied cultural and professional backgrounds.

The programme is part of India’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international cooperation and capacity building through the ITEC initiative, which brings together professionals and leaders from across the globe for training and knowledge exchange.

The session concluded on a high note, with participants acknowledging it as one of the most impactful engagements of the programme
