Lucknow: An interactive session on “Practical Obstacles and Solutions in the Online Filing of GST Appeals” was organized on March 14, 2026, by the U.P. GST Appellate Tribunal Bar Association at Hotel Pine Heritage in Lucknow. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from tax professionals, advocates, and experts who deliberated on the practical, legal, and technical aspects of filing appeals under the GST framework.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Association President Kumar Saurav, who highlighted the significant role of the GST Appellate Tribunal in strengthening the appellate mechanism under the Goods and Services Tax regime.
The event’s chief guest was Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra, Chairman of the GST Appellate Tribunal. Addressing the gathering, he elaborated on the practical challenges faced by tax professionals while filing appeals before the tribunal and discussed possible solutions to improve the efficiency and transparency of the process.
A notable highlight of the event was that this marked Justice Mishra’s first official visit to Uttar Pradesh after assuming charge as Chairman of the GST Appellate Tribunal, making the session particularly significant for the state’s tax professional community.
Several judicial and technical members from various benches of the GST Appellate Tribunal also attended the session. From the Lucknow Bench, the members present included Judicial Members Santosh Kumar Srivastava and Narendra Kumar, along with Technical Members Alok Chaudhary (Centre) and Arvind Kumar (State).

From the Prayagraj Bench, Judicial Member Mahtab Ahmed participated in the discussions, while the Varanasi Bench was represented by Judicial Member Narendra Bahadur Yadav and Technical Member (State) Ananjay Kumar Rai.
In addition, registrars from different benches, senior officials from the National Informatics Centre, and officers from the GST Department in Lucknow were also present.
The session saw the presence of several senior chartered accountants and advocates from across the state. More than 150 tax professionals attended the conference, travelling from cities including Agra, Bareilly, Ayodhya, Basti, Kanpur, Varanasi, Raebareli, and Prayagraj.
The program was successfully organized under the leadership of President Kumar Saurav, Secretary Naman Tiwari, and Rishabh Mishra of the U.P. GST Appellate Tribunal Bar Association, who ensured meaningful dialogue on improving the online GST appeal filing system and addressing the concerns of the professional community.
