Interactive Art Installation on the Concept of “Home” Held at Lucknow Art College

Lucknow — The College of Arts and Crafts under the Faculty of Fine Arts at University of Lucknow hosted a unique interactive art installation exploring the theme of “Home,” offering visitors an emotionally engaging and participatory experience.

Known for blending artistic training with meaningful public engagement, the college once again demonstrated its commitment to connecting art with everyday life. The installation, conceptualized and led by faculty member Aniruddha Diwakar Acharya along with his students, invited participants to navigate a numbered maze on paper, ultimately reaching a drawn image of a house while reflecting on the question: “What is home?”

Participants wrote personal definitions — many describing home as emotion, memory and belonging. When carbon copies revealed intricate pathways formed by their movements through the maze, each visitor discovered they had unknowingly created a unique artwork.

As part of the project, students engaged with over 400 residents across Lucknow — including laborers, vendors, teachers, children and homemakers — gathering diverse interpretations of “home.” Some participants were moved to tears while sharing their memories.

The display creatively incorporated construction-like materials, reinforcing the metaphor of building a home. Visitors also had the opportunity to create and instantly exhibit their artworks.

Dean Ratan Kumar and several faculty members were present. The two-day exhibition continues to invite the public to participate and rediscover the emotional dimensions of “home” through art.
